Settings
- PostgreSQL
- MySQL
- MariaDB
- MongoDB
The Settings tab lists the server’s settings: pg_settings on PostgreSQL, system variables on
MySQL and MariaDB, server parameters on MongoDB. Each shows its value, source and description,
and a mark when a change is waiting for a restart.
Find a setting
Section titled “Find a setting”Open Server tools from the connection’s menu and pick Settings. Filter settings matches names, descriptions and categories, and Changed from default shows only the settings that differ from their default. When the list is long, filter to see more.
Change a setting
Section titled “Change a setting”- Choose Change… on the setting.
- Enter the Value. The field shows the unit and the allowed limits where the server reports them.
- Pick where the change applies in Apply to.
- Choose Review…, read the exact statement, and confirm. Reset to default returns the setting to its default instead.
The choices in Apply to depend on the engine:
- PostgreSQL: This session (SET), only the server tools’ own session, to try a value;
Database … (ALTER DATABASE), so new sessions in this database start with the value; and
Server configuration (ALTER SYSTEM), written to
postgresql.auto.confand reloaded. - MySQL: Server (SET GLOBAL), so new sessions get the value until the server restarts;
Server, persisted (SET PERSIST), also kept in
mysqld-auto.cnfacross restarts; and This session (SET SESSION), only the server tools’ own connection. - MariaDB: Server (SET GLOBAL) and This session (SET SESSION).
- MongoDB: Running server (setParameter), until the server restarts.
A setting that only takes effect after a restart says so: This setting takes effect after a server restart.
