Keyboard shortcuts

  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL
  • MariaDB
  • MongoDB
  • Redis / Valkey
  • Elasticsearch

Querybara’s window-wide shortcuts are key bindings, as in VS Code: each runs a command, some are chords of two keys, and you can change them in the Keyboard Shortcuts editor. The editors and tools also have keys of their own, listed further down. The editors are Monaco editors and keep their usual editing keys, and the Edit and View menus use your system’s standard keys for undo, copy, paste, zoom and full screen.

On macOS, Cmd takes the place of Ctrl where the tables say so. The macOS Option key is Alt, and Control is the Control key itself.

These are the default key bindings. A comma separates the two parts of a chord: for example, press Cmd + K, then Cmd + S within 1.5 seconds. After the first part, the bottom of the window says it is waiting for the second key.

  • They work everywhere in the window, also in an editor, except while a dialog is open.
  • F5 and other keys without Cmd, Ctrl or Alt do nothing while you type in a field or an editor.
  • Letters, digits and punctuation are read by their place on the keyboard, named as on a US layout, whatever keyboard layout you use.
  • On Windows and Linux, Ctrl + Shift + W closes the window.

The command palette lists every command, including those without keys.

The Keyboard Shortcuts editor lists every command with its key binding and where the binding comes from: Default, or User for one you set.

  1. Open the editor: press Cmd + K, then Cmd + S (Ctrl + K, then Ctrl + S on Windows and Linux), or choose View → Keyboard Shortcuts, or run Preferences: Keyboard Shortcuts. It opens as a tab.
  2. Find the command. Search key bindings matches the command’s name, its id or its keys.
  3. Double-click the row, select it and press Enter, or choose its pencil button (Change the key binding of and the command’s name). A dialog asks you to press the keys.
  4. Press the new keys. For a chord, press the second keys after the first.
  5. Press Enter to keep them, or Esc to cancel.

If another command already has the keys, the dialog says so before you keep them, and the editor marks a binding that two commands share with a warning sign.

On a row, the trash button removes the binding, so the command has no keys. On a binding you set, the reset button puts the default back.

Querybara keeps your bindings in its settings; they replace the defaults command by command.
