Supported engines and versions

  • PostgreSQL
  • MySQL
  • MariaDB
  • MongoDB
  • Redis / Valkey
  • Elasticsearch
  • CLI

Querybara connects to six engines from one app: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis (or Valkey) and Elasticsearch. This page lists the server versions the continuous integration runs test against, and what each engine can do in the desktop app and the CLI.

This page describes Querybara 0.1.1, commit bc9f5aa.

The integration suites (drivers, sync round-trips and the CLI) run against real servers in CI. The nightly run covers these versions:

Engine Versions tested nightly
PostgreSQL 14, 15, 16, 17, 18
MySQL 8.0, 8.4, 9.7
MariaDB 10.6, 10.11, 11.4, 11.8
MongoDB 7.0, 8.0
Redis 6.2, 7.4, 8.0
Valkey 7.2, 8.0
Elasticsearch 7.17.28, 8.19.22, 9.5.3

Every pull request runs the same suites against one version of each: PostgreSQL 16, MySQL 8.4, MariaDB 11.4, MongoDB 8.0, Redis 7.4 and Elasticsearch 9.5.3.

Versions not listed here are not tested by CI. Of the Redis versions tested, only Redis 8.0 has the search module, so search indexes are tested against a real server in the nightly run only.

The three SQL engines share the SQL modules:

  • Explorer: a click on a database or schema lists its objects in the Objects tab, with rows, sizes, engine, dates and comments; a click on a table opens its data.
  • Query editor: run all, the statement at the cursor or the selection; DELIMITER and dollar quoting; parameters; confirmations for risky writes; streaming results; server-side cancel; transactions; history; visual explain (Explain and Explain Analyze).
  • Autocomplete from a per-connection metadata cache.
  • Visual query builder and ER diagrams, with model editing and Review & apply. Unapplied model changes are kept and come back when the diagram reopens, and models save as .model.json files that open on another database or schema.
  • Table data: an editable grid with filters, keyset paging, form and JSON views, staged edits applied in one transaction, foreign key lookups, copy and paste, saved views.
  • Table designer for tables, indexes, foreign keys, constraints, triggers and partitions.
  • Structure sync and data compare, with saved comparisons.
  • Data transfer between any two of them, and to and from MongoDB.
  • Import and export wizards, Parquet included, and Run SQL File.
  • Backup and restore, also with pg_dump and mysqldump when they are installed.
  • Schedules for backups, SQL files, exports and saved comparisons, while Querybara is open.
  • Server tools: monitor, sessions, top queries, users, roles and grants, maintenance and settings. On PostgreSQL, also default privileges and row-level security policies.
  • Sign-in with host lists, SRV, SCRAM, LDAP and X.509.
  • An explorer of databases, collections, views, time series, GridFS buckets, indexes, users and roles. A click on a database lists its collections in the Objects tab, with documents, sizes and indexes.
  • A collection view with a mongosh-syntax query bar and a visual query builder; tree, table and JSON views; a document editor with Extended JSON types.
  • Bulk update and delete with a matched-count preview, visual explain, an aggregation editor with per-stage previews, an index manager, schema analysis, collection and view options, a change stream viewer, a GridFS browser and a command console.
  • A SQL tab that translates a SELECT to find() or aggregate(), and export of any query as a driver program.
  • Data transfer to and from the SQL engines, backup and restore of collections with their options and indexes, scheduled backups, and the server tools.
  • Standalone, Sentinel and Cluster, with ACL users.
  • A SCAN-based key browser with a namespace tree and type filters.
  • Editors for strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, streams, RedisJSON, HyperLogLog, bitmaps and geo; TTL, rename and copy; bulk delete with a dry run.
  • A CLI with autocomplete and inline docs, Pub/Sub, an INFO dashboard, slow log, clients, latency, MONITOR, big keys, ACL users, a configuration editor and the Sentinel or Cluster topology.
  • Search indexes (RediSearch, the Redis Query Engine, and valkey-search): list, query, read the schema and the FT.CREATE that rebuilds it, create and drop.
  • Dump analysis of an RDB file, offline: keys by type, encoding, expiry, database and pattern, and the largest keys. It reads dumps from Redis 2 to 8.6 and Valkey 7 to 9.
  • Redis to Redis transfer, backup and restore of keys with their TTLs, scheduled backups, and a BGSAVE button.
  • Node URLs or an Elastic Cloud ID; basic auth, API key or bearer token; TLS modes; one node through an SSH tunnel or proxy.
  • An explorer with index health, data streams and aliases, and a console with autocomplete.
  • A document grid with editing and bulk actions, and a query builder from the index mapping whose aggregations show beside the documents; SQL with Translate to DSL, and ES|QL.
  • Index operations, a mapping editor and reindex; cluster health, nodes, shard allocation, disk watermarks and tasks; aliases, index and component templates, ILM policies, ingest pipelines and snapshots.
