GridFS

  • MongoDB

The GridFS browser lists the files in a bucket with their length, upload date, content type and metadata. You can preview text files and images, and upload, download, rename and delete files. Uploads and downloads go straight between the file on disk and the database, with progress and a Cancel button.

In the explorer, expand a database’s GridFS buckets folder and double-click a bucket, or choose Open files from its menu.

The list shows the Name, Length, Uploaded, Content type and Metadata of each file, 50 to a page; use the previous and next page buttons to move between pages. Type part of a name into Filter by name and choose Filter to narrow the list.

Select a file to preview it beside the list. Text files and images are shown; for a large text file, only the start is shown.

  1. Choose Upload… and pick a file. The notice confirms the upload, for example “Uploaded oak-chair.jpg”.
  2. To save a file to disk, select it, choose Download… and pick where to save it.
  • Rename… changes the selected file’s name.
  • Delete… always asks first, and shows the commands that remove the file and its chunks.
