ILM policies

  • Elasticsearch

Index lifecycle management (ILM) policies move indices through phases, such as rolling over a hot index and deleting old ones. Querybara edits them as the JSON their PUT _ilm/policy request takes.

  1. Double-click Templates and pipelines in the sidebar and pick the ILM policies tab.
  2. Pick a policy from the list, or choose New. A new policy starts from an example with a hot phase that rolls over after 7 days and a delete phase after 30 days.
  3. Enter the Name for a new policy and edit the definition.
  4. Choose Save….

The list shows each policy’s phases, how many indices use it, and its version. Delete… removes the selected policy; deleting is destructive, so it always shows the request and asks.

Saving asks first on production and confirm-writes profiles, and read-only profiles refuse it.
