Pub/Sub

The Pub/Sub tool subscribes to channels and patterns on a connection of its own and lists the messages as they arrive. You can publish to any channel from the same panel, and list the channels that have subscribers.

Subscribe

Section titled “Subscribe”
  1. Open Tools › Pub/Sub under the connection, or choose Open Pub/Sub when the CLI refuses a SUBSCRIBE.
  2. Enter Channels, separated by spaces, such as orders news, and Patterns, such as orders.*.
  3. Choose Subscribe. The status reads “Subscribed to” with the channels and patterns.

Messages appear in the message log as they arrive, with the channel and, for a pattern match, the pattern it came through. The log keeps the latest 1,000 messages.

To change the subscription, edit the fields and choose Resubscribe. Unsubscribe ends it, as does closing the panel.

Publish

Section titled “Publish”

Enter the Channel and the Message, then choose Publish. The panel reports how many subscribers received it, for example “Delivered to 1 subscribers”. On a production connection, or one that confirms writes, publishing asks first.

Find active channels

Active channels lists the channels that currently have subscribers.
