Aliases and templates
- Elasticsearch
Aliases, templates, ILM policies and ingest pipelines live in one panel. Double-click Templates and pipelines in the sidebar to open it. It has a tab per kind, shown only where the cluster has the feature: Aliases, Index templates and Component templates (composable templates, from Elasticsearch 7.8), Legacy templates, ILM policies and Ingest pipelines.
Aliases
Section titled “Aliases”The Aliases tab lists every alias with its index, whether that index is the write index, and whether the alias has a filter or routing. Remove… removes an alias from one index.
Add an alias
Section titled “Add an alias”- Under Add an alias, enter the Alias and the Indices (comma-separated).
- Optionally enter a Filter (a query, JSON; optional).
- Tick The first index is the write index if writes through the alias should go to the first index.
- Choose Add…. Querybara sends an
_aliasesrequest.
Swap an alias in one step
Section titled “Swap an alias in one step”- Under Swap an alias (one atomic step), pick the Alias.
- In Move it to, pick the index it should point at.
- Choose Swap….
The swap removes the alias from its current indices and adds it to the new one in a single
_aliases call, so clients never see the alias missing or pointing at both.
You can also add and remove the aliases of one index from the Aliases tab of its index panel.
Templates
Section titled “Templates”The template tabs list each template with a few facts: index patterns, priority or order, the component templates it is composed of, whether it creates a data stream, what it defines, and its version.
- Pick a template to edit it, or choose New to start from an example.
- Edit the definition. It is the JSON that the template’s
PUTrequest takes. - Choose Save….
Delete… removes the selected template.
